A Year of Accomplishments

A Year of Accomplishments

Volunteers contributed more than 9,912 hours to the Washington program during 2009, a value of $200,718.

Our thanks to all of our volunteers who donate your talents and energy to The Nature Conservancy. Some of you have volunteered in Washington for more than two decades and remain as paid staff come and go, forging friendships and transforming Conservancy preserves with your skills and hard work.

We're grateful for all of your accomplishments. Happy New Year to you and your families and all the best in 2010!

-Barbara French & staff at The Nature Conservancy

Volunteers of the Year 2010

Volunteers of the Year 2010

Each year, we recognize a truly outstanding volunteer who donates an extraordinary amount of time, talent and energy to The Nature Conservancy. With so many exceptional volunteers, it can be difficult to choose but this year a clear winner emerged.

Congratulations to Doug and Kathy Whitlock, volunteers and Legacy Club members, who donated well over 1,000 hours to the Conservancy in 2009! Click here to read more about the Whitlocks.

Work Parties

Work Parties

Foulweather Bluff Ivy Pull
Saturday, Feb. 20
Kitsap County

Each year in winter or early spring, volunteers scour the forest at Foulweather Bluff in search of young holly or ivy sprouts to keep the preserve free of these invasive plants. Be prepared to scramble over logs and crash through dense brush. You’ll get wet and muddy, but that’s half the fun!
We need able-bodied, hearty volunteers. Not suitable for young children or those not physically agile. Plan to bring rain jacket and rain pants for wet underbrush, boots, gloves, lunch and water. We will meet at the site at 10 a.m. and finish by 3 p.m. To sign up and for more information please contact Barbara French, bfrench@tnc.org or (206) 343-4345, ext. 361.

Prairie Restoration

Ongoing Tuesday workdays continue from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. weekly at prairie sites around Thurston County. For directions and more information, contact Grace Diehl at gdiehl@tnc.org or (260) 870-5500.

Leaving a Legacy

The Legacy Club is a group of Nature Conservancy supporters who have made a lasting commitment to conservation by making a life-income gift with the Conservancy or by naming the Conservancy as a beneficiary in their estate plans.
